Do You Clean Windows in the Rain?
8 January 2024How to find a good local window cleaning service
19 February 2024Why do window cleaners leave the glass wet?
A great question.
The secret is in the water used. Unlike ordinary tap water, window cleaners use purified H2o.
What is purified H2o?
Purified H2o water has had all chemicals and minerals removed from it. The process used is called reverse osmosis.
Here’s a simplified explanation of how reverse osmosis works:
- Filtration: In the initial stages, water from a regular source (such as tap water) is passed through a pre-filter to remove larger particles, debris, and impurities. This helps protect the RO membrane from potential damage.
- Pressure: The pre-filtered water is then pressurised and pushed through a semi-permeable membrane in the reverse osmosis system. This membrane allows only water molecules to pass through while blocking larger ions, minerals, and impurities.
- Separation of Impurities: The semi-permeable membrane effectively separates contaminants, including minerals, salts, and other impurities, from the water. This process is driven by the pressure applied to the water.
- Product Water: The purified water that successfully passes through the RO membrane is referred to as permeate or product water. This water is now significantly free of impurities, minerals, and other substances.
- Waste Water: The impurities and rejected substances are carried away as concentrated brine or waste water, which is diverted away from the clean water stream.
Reverse Osmosis Systems in Each Van
By using reverse osmosis, you can obtain high-quality, pure water that is suitable for window cleaning. The absence of minerals in the water helps prevent streaks and spots on windows, providing a clear and streak-free finish when used for cleaning purposes. This is particularly beneficial in professional window cleaning services, such as the ones offered by Nautilus Window Cleaning Services
It is essential the water is left to dry naturally for best results. The water simply evaporates leaving the glass streak and smear free. Should we attempt to “dry” the window, the impurities found in a cloth would stay on the glass and the results would not be good.
